Water, Water, Everywhere

By 6:30am, the sky was bright, not even a cloud in sight.  It was a good day to go out and do something... especially hiking and checking out the wildflowers.

Of course, when we reached the destination, this was what we got:

Cold. Wet. Miserable.

Great. When life hands you water, be ungrateful!  Toss it back, go and search for your own water!

So we decided to go check out some waterfalls.
We came to a waterfall... another waterfall... then another waterfall...

More river and waterfall!

One more waterfall. By the time I came to this one, I chose to take a flower shot instead of the waterfall.

When life hands you waterfalls, be ungrateful!  Say "awww", toss them back, then go and search for sunshine!

Anyway we got really hungry in the process. We decided to drive to the nearest but unfamiliar town, 60 miles away, to search for something to eat. We pulled into the main street, seeing one empty store right next to another empty store. Two rows of empty stores, some with broken windows, some were just eerie. No store. No food. No life.

We were ready to give up when I spotted a lone building in business. It wasn't just any business, it was a brew pub!!! I felt like I had just struck the lottery.

The food there was great. The beer was excellent. And I got to beat husband in a game of pool by sheer luck - unbelievable!

We didn't do what we had intended to do. No hiking. No wildflowers. We ended up driving 300 miles in total, saw many rivers and splashing waterfalls. Got very soaked in the process. Ate in an unlikely brewery in a ghost town.  But above all, we went home happy.

Life is great, regardless what it throws at you... just toss the thing back and you will do fine.

Meno - hahaha, what you just said would make me a Dead Fish, in Palin-tionary! :)

I don't know Mama Hen, it seems to be like the perfect way to spend the day. Beautiful scenery, got to take some real nice pictures for remembrance, got to explore a little hokey town that had good water - er, beer, sorry - and spent it with your beloved. How wonderful is that? Plus, in water we are born and water is what we gravitate towards to calm our spirits and souls, so yeah, perfect....

This kind of surprises I like. Sometimes things do go according to plan but they turn out better.

I love days like that when the unexpected happens but it turns out to be a great day anyway.

I've said it a million times before but it bears repeating...You live in the most spectacular place on earth and if I ever make it to the States, Oregon is going to be the first place I visit. Just beautiful.

Rebecca - as it turned out, the little outing turned adventure trip was indeed perfect. And I do hope water can calm the souls of mankind as we get more water than normal this year :)

Ting - it could turn out to be a disaster too, thank goodness it didn't.

KayDee - indeed Oregon is very pretty. Someone once said it's called cheating photography in Oregon, since no matter what you shoot, it will turn out incredible, given the scenery itself is incredible.

Malach - indeed.

Meleah - thanks. Pictures do speak louder than words :)

I love taking pictures of waterfalls and have many in my collection. Someday if I ever get out your way, I'm sure I will have to significantly expand the collection.
